“I LOVE YOU”

A poem by Agnes Elizabeth Owens

Easy to take feelings for granted

Assuming others cared for disenchanted

They are often cognizant of our feeling

“I love you” gift given to set heart reeling.

An important part of nurturing

A loving relationship maturing

Few people tire being told they are loved

“I love you” as a caress and not shoved.

Words take relationship to next level, phase

Reaffirm, strengthen a steady bond always

Without expectation of a return investment

Vulnerability not assessment.

”I love you” a gift from the heart

An offering unconditional and smart.
